    • I'm a pregger. January 30, 2012
Well, the stick showed it, and the ob/gyn confirmed it. So I guess I am officially pregnant now! The baby is in its week 7 and is the size of a blueberry. This week the baby is developing arms and legs. It's mind-boggling a 'thing' the size of a blueberry has hands and feet!Wow, it sounds so surreal! When I took the pregnancy test, I was expec […]

    • Happy Chinese New Year! January 23, 2012
Yay! The first day of Chinese New Year. This is the year of the dragon, which is probably the most auspicious year for the Chinese, since we Chinese are the descendants of the dragon.Every year during this time I miss my family terribly. It's supposed to be a time for family gathering and I miss out on that every year ever since I moved to the U.S. Sigh […]

2011 was a year of fun, learning, and growth. In retrospect, it was a wonderful year for us.January: My sister came to visit and slept on our couch for about a month! We had so much fun while she was here. She celebrated her 24th birthday here too. My second semester in grad school started and this semester I got to co-teach a class with my mentor. It was th […]

    The Reunion

    Monday, August 11th, 2008

After a long and grueling 24 hour trip to Malaysia, I was reunited with the love of my life, Sharon. On the last leg of the trip from KL to Miri, I was smiling the whole way. People must have thought I was crazy, haha. But I couldn’t stop thinking about seeing Sharon again. I imagined the scene over and over again in my head. But when it finally came down to it, and I passed through immigration and collected my baggage, and saw her there waiting for me, it was the happiest I had been in months. Then I hugged her and twirled her around and gave her a quick little kiss. She was so embarrassed haha. But I couldn’t help it. She was even more beautiful than when I had last seen her 3 months ago, and that is VERY beautiful. I am sooo happy now to be with her again. We have a lot of things planned and it will be very stressful, but for now I am going to just enjoy being with her again.

    At the Airport in LA

    Saturday, August 9th, 2008

Well, I am sitting in the LAX Airport now, waiting for my flight. I have about 5 hours of layover here, so i figure this is as good a time as any to blog. Actually, Sharon, my darling, told me to not be lazy and use my time to post. Haha. So here I am, the same place I was at 3 years ago going to Malaysia for my mission. Seriously, I am sitting in the exact same place I sat 3 years ago, at the McDonalds. Elder Mortensen and Sister Pike will remember. It brings back a lot of memories. I am traveling to Malaysia to see Sharon, FINALLY, and I am so excited! I really can’t wait to see her. I’ve been waiting for 3 months now. Much too long. I have about 18 hours of traveling ahead of me, so I am going to try and get some sleep on the plane. This plane to Taipei will be the longest one. Luckily, I don’t have to change planes in Taipei, just stay on the plane. Then after Taipei I am going to Kuala Lumpur, where I will catch a plane to Miri. I just came in from St George where my Mom and Kendall dropped me off earlier. My mom grew teary eyed. I love them both, and I will miss them. Earlier I gave my mom and Kendall blessings so that they will stay safe and prosper while I am gone. Kendall starts school on Tuesday, and he gets his license on Monday, so there are some big things coming up. I am really way excited to see Sharon. i can’t wait! I will also get to meet her family and we are having a wedding reception type of thing for her family on the 16th. It is going to be really big, so I am kinda nervous, but I am also excited for it. Then Sharon and I are going to Thailand for a few days, so that will be lots of fun. Anyways, that’s a small update for now, but I will keep the blog updated with the latest. Bye Bye!

    Study Journal!

    Monday, July 21st, 2008

Usually in church I read the scriptures. And usually when I read the scriptures, I write down my thoughts in my Study Journal. The problem recently is that every time I open the scriptures, everything seems to be talking about Sharon. So here is what I wrote yesterday:
I have been contemplating ways to make a good impression with Sharon’s parents. I really want them to approve of me. I read a couple stories just now in the Book of Mormon which I can now see in a new light. The first is the story of Ammon and king Lamoni. When Ammon first came to that land, he was captured and brought before the king. Ammon needed to gain the favor of the king or he would be killed. The king “inquired of Ammon if it were his desire to dwell in the land among the Lamanites”. Ammon answered “Yea, I desire to dwell among this people for a time; yea, and perhaps until the day I die.” “And it came to pass that king Lamoni was much pleased with Ammon, and caused that his bands should be loosed; and he would that Ammon should take one of his daughters to wife.”
Wow. This is exactly what I am looking for. I want to gain the favor of Sharon’s dad, and I want him to desire that I should marry his daughter. The only difference is that unlike Ammon, I would definitely say YES! Haha. I need to really be on my best behavior and know how to act and what I need to do. I think that one of the main reasons that king Lamoni liked Ammon is because he saw how much Ammon loved his people and his culture. I also need to show that I really love Sharon and that I really love the Chinese culture. It’s true, I really do love them, I just need to make sure that I show it. Hehe.

SO that’s my master plan. Now I just have to hope that they don’t read this and get smart to me hehe…

    Talking with Sharon~

    Sunday, July 13th, 2008

Right now I am doing something which I have done every day (usually multiple times a day) for the past couple months. No, I am not playing a computer game (something I haven’t done for about as long). I am chatting on Skype with Sharon! I look forward to it every day. There is about a 14 hour time difference, so morning for me is evening for her, day for me is night for her. So we can only chat in the early morning and late at night. I miss her soo much~
I really can’t wait until I can just talk to her face to face. I am usually not a really super talkative person (except, evidently, in Sunday School where I can’t seem to shut up), but I can talk to Sharon for hours and not get tired. Haha. Well, I better stop ignoring her and get back to chatting, hehe. Bye bye~

Tribute to our Troops… and Sharon

    Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

I was thinking about Sharon today, and I remembered the song “Leaving on a Jet Plane” by John Denver. I went to find it on youtube and found this one. It is geared towards the American Troops that are overseas and away from their loved ones. My heart goes out to them. I also know what it feels like to be away from someone you love very much. This song describes how I felt on the day I took Sharon to the Airport. I still remember it clearly, helping her check her bags and get to the right place, making sure she had everything, then came the part where she had to go and I had to stay. I stayed and watched her as she moved up through the line, then when she was out of sight, I went upstairs to watch her from the balcony. She didn’t know it, but I watched her as she had her bags scanned, then as she walked down the long hallway amid a throng of other travelers. When I finally couldn’t see her anymore, I closed my eyes and turned around and sighed. I knew that I would miss her. I knew that it would be hard. I slowly made my way back to where I had parked the car, and began the long (7 hour) drive back to Utah alone.

Here is the video that describes how I felt:

    The Free Lancer!

    Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Well, it’s been a little while since I have written anything on my blog, so here is a brief update on what is going on. I have been trying to find a job, so I decided that in the mean time, I will be a freelancer. I started last week doing projects for clients that I found on GetAFreelancer.com. This site is really cool and it is free to join. It has freelancing opportunities for all kinds of work, not just Web Development (which is what I specialize in). It also has Graphic Design, Copywriting, And everything in between. It is really cool so if anyone out there is interested in Freelancing, I really suggest this site. Just sign up and see what jobs interest you. You tell the people how much you can do the job for, and if they like you and your price, they will hire you. In the first week, I made $700 and I got a lot more lined up for this week. It is really cool and I get to stay at home and choose my own hours.
Anyways, that is what I have been doing the past week.
Here is an update on me and Sharon: We have decided to apply for a Fiance Visa so that she can come to the USA and we can get married here. The problem is that this application usually takes around 6 months to process. So that is why the previous post. I am planning to go see her and stay with her in August, so that I can meet her family and we can have an engagement party there with her family. We are going to have the party on August 8, 2008. Isn’t that cool?! Anyways, I am working hard until then to save my money so we can do a lot of cool things there. I miss her and love her soo much.

    Study Journal

    Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

When I was on my mission in Sri Lanka, I started a study journal there to record my thoughts and feelings about certain scriptures I read. I updated it throughout my mission. When I returned home, my study journal got left in the dust. Now, almost a year later, I am starting it again. I have renewed my goal to have meaningful scripture study each and every day, and record something from it in my study journal. But since I am a ‘blogger’ now, I figured, why waste such intellectual property by just putting it in a book? So I am going to write a few of my Study Journal entries from time to time here on my blog as well. Here it goes:

Proverbs 13:12 - Hope and Waiting

While I was talking with my fiancee, Sharon, on the computer I felt impressed to find a scripture about hope and share it with her. I looked on http://www.lds.org and searched for a scripture about hope. The first one I found was Proverbs 13:12, which I really liked. I liked it because in my mind it also talks about waiting for something that is important to you. It says “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick;”. I have experienced this myself. Waiting for something, hoping it will come, then when it doesn’t come when you hoped, it makes your heart sick. I know how this feels because I have been waiting a long time for Sharon, and then when i found out I would have to wait even longer, it made me feel sick. But the rest of the verse has a promise that says, “when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.” Wow. That is really cool terminology. A tree of life. I know that when I finally get to be with Sharon, it will be a tree of life to me, and I will be so happy with her.

The next day in Sacrament Meeting, I felt impressed to share that scripture with my mom. She loved it too and marked it in her scriptures. Later, she told me that she remembered it throughout her week and it really enriched her.

Well, that is the direct excerpt from my study journal. I will be making an entry like that every day, not necessarily on the blog, but at least in the journal. I have found that this is an effective way to increase the quality and also the quantity of your scripture studies, because it helps motivate you to have meaningful scripture studies and also motivates you to do it every day. Also, putting your thoughts on paper preserves them for future reference by you and your posterity so that all can be blessed thereby. Anyways, that is my first Study Journal Online entry. Hope you enjoyed it.

    Sharon’s Blog Rocks!

    Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Hey everyone, go check out Sharon’s Blog. She just added a post that talk about her feelings on the engagement. It actually made me cry haha. But don’t worry, they were happy tears! This is a lot, I mean, I never cry. Except at the temple… and when I am happy with Sharon. Anyways, now that I have made a fool of myself, you have to go check it out!

    The Proposal

    Tuesday, May 13th, 2008
This is just after I proposed, at the Wishing Well!

    From Disneyland Trip

After the parade, I took Sharon to the Wishing Well by Cinderella’s Castle. I gave her a coin and we each made a wish or two. Then I gathered up my courage and confessed my love to Sharon, knelt down and asked her if she would marry me! I was sooooo nervous! She was in shock I think but she said YES really quickly. At least she didn’t have to think too hard about it, eh? I was in love with her for such a long time already. I want to spend the rest of my life with this amazing, beautiful girl. It was my last day with Sharon before she went back to her home in Malaysia. I wished that she would say yes when I threw in my coin, and she wished that she could spend the rest of her life with me. It looks like Disney Land really is the place where dreams come true! I was so happy that I cried, and Sharon was crying too. We hugged and kissed and asked someone to take our picture by the well. It was the happiest day of my life. I can’t wait to marry this special special girl. On the way home, I called my mom and we tried to call Sharon’s mom, but no answer. We were both so happy!

    Disney Land and…… I’m Engaged!!

    Saturday, May 10th, 2008

In California, we stayed with my Aunt Joleen and her family. My uncle Randy was out of town. We didn’t spend much time there, except for sleeping. We were very tired our whole trip because each day we were running all over the place and having so much fun. On Thursday, we went to Disney Land. We met up with Kurt, one of my room mates from Hawaii, who now works at Disney Land, and he was able to get us in for cheaper than normal. So we got two Park Hopper tickets (meaning we could go to both parks, Disney Land and California Adventure Park). We went on some rides with Kurt in the morning and early afternoon. We went to Pirates of the Caribbean first, then Big Thunder Mountain, then Space Mountain, then Snow White, then Indiana Jones. We were having a riot of a time. It was soooooooooo much fun. Sharon and I were laughing out loud all day. We then went to check out California Adventure Park. First, we went to the Tower of Terror. It was a lot of fun going up and down so fast. Then we ate some lunch which aunt Joleen had packed for us. Then we went on Soarin over California, which was very breath taking. Then we split off from Kurt and went on our own for the rest of the time. We went to Grizzly Peak, which was awesome! I got pretty wet from that. Then we went to the cars ride, which was a lot of fun as well Sharon was screaming the whole ride haha. Then we went to see the Aladdin Musical Show in the theater. It was really good. The genie was really funny. We took lots of videos of that. Then we ran to the rollercoaster with our fast passes. We went straight to the front of the line and got on. It was a ton of fun. Sharon was scared haha. Then we went to see the Parade for Pixar. It had characters from Toy Story, Bugs Life, Monsters Inc, Nemo, the Incredibles, and more. It was really cool. Then we went back over to Disney Land and went to Splash Mountain as our last ride. We waited in line for a while, but it was worth it. It was a lot of fun and I got soaking wet. After that, we went to see the Disney Land parade. It was so cool seeing all of the characters and we had a lot of fun.
On the way home, I called my mom and we tried to call Sharon’s mom, but no answer. We were both so happy! When we got back to Aunt Joleen’s, we were ready to sleep, haha. Sharon told some of her friends on MSN. I told my Aunt and Ryan.
The next day, I took Sharon to the LAX Airport. It was soooooo sad to see her go! I miss her soo much. I am going to call her every day. She flew to Hawaii. Brandon and Vicky met her at the airport and took her to Laie so she could sleep for the night. Then in the morning, Brandon took her back and put her on the plane to Malaysia. I am so glad for friends like Brandon. I drove home to Utah by myself for 6.5 hours. It was a long and lonely drive.
Anyways, here are some pics from Disney Land:
