    • Story #306: Music August 29, 2010
Kate Vogele is someone I'll be listening to for a long time. Her music rocks! I love love love her style, lyrics, and of course, music. I discovered her unintentionally after listening to S.H.E's 爱就爱了(S.H.E is a popular girl group in Taiwan by the way). I realized S.H.E were doing the cover for Kate's song, "Angel" so I had a listen […]

    • Story #303: Southern Utah weekend August 11, 2010
Last weekend, I skipped class (the class talks about nothing important anyways), and drove the 3 hour back to our beloved Toquerville and St.George. St.George was okay, Toquerville was fantabulous! I got to see my buddies, Max and Nikki. Max still smells as bad and Nikki seemed to be so quiet. I'm sure Max still remembers me even after the 2 month absen […]

    • Story #302:Ahh...the field of purple that makes my heart sing August 6, 2010
On the same day that we went tubing in Provo Canyon, Mr.L and I went to the Lavender farm in Mona. Because I have so many friends in Europe (most of them are my high school friends who went there for college) and I go to some Chinese forums where hundreds of Chinese students in Europe post their pictures every single day, I came to know and fall in love with […]

  • About Me

    Biography of Leighton Whiting

I was born on April 12, 1986 in a Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. I was the first child of my parents, Angela and Zane Whiting, who had been married for just under a year. I am the oldest of four children, with 2 younger brothers and a younger sister. We lived in the ‘hill-country’ of south-central Texas a few miles outside of Boerne on a hill. My Grandparents on my Dad’s side lived to the left of us, and my Great-Grandparents on the right. My uncle lived a little in back of us, and my cousins were near-by also. We owned a lot of land which included a creek and mountain which we called ‘the peak’. We would often go to feed the cows and swim in the creek and hike the mountain. I loved to explore the land and wander the forests on my own or with my dog. I loved to be alone in and enjoy nature.
I was baptized when I turned 8 years old in the creek on our land by my Dad. We attended a ward in Boerne, where my Grandpa was the Bishop. Everyone in my Dad’s extended family was a member of the church. We often would have ward activities such as father-sons outings on our land as well. I attended school in Boerne as well, at Fabra and Currington Elementary Schools. When I turned 11, we moved to the town area of Boerne, where we lived for about a year in a nice house. I had many friends at school and we would often have birthday parties at eachothers’ houses.
After 6th grade was over, we moved to Utah and stayed with my Grandma on my Mom’s side, in Toquerville, Utah. I attended Middle School at Hurricane, where I quickly made friends. I played Soccer and also enjoyed playing Video Games. I attended High School in Hurricane as well, and we moved to a nice house in Toquerville. This house is still where my mom lives today. All throughout High School, I grew very close to my various friends, and we did many fun things. I also continued to attend church and participated in the Scouting program, earning my Eagle Scout award.
After I graduated from High School, I moved to St. George with some of my friends and we attended Dixie State College for a semester. We had a lot of fun during this time as well, and it was my first time living away from my parents. I quickly learned to be more independent. I applied for and was accepted to attend school in BYUH for the Winter 2005 semester. I loved BYUH and made many friends.
After that semester, I returned home to prepare for serving a mission. I applied and was chosen to serve in the Singapore Mission. I reported to the MTC on September 7, 2005. This phase of my life was a great period of growth in many ways for me. It changed me greatly. I served in Sri Lanka, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and Sarawak, where I met many people and learned a few languages. I will forever hold a special love for the asian people and especially the wonderful people who I met while in the Lord’s service.
I returned home from my mission September 9, 2007. It was joyous to see my family again. A week after I got back, I flew to Florida to work in St. Augustine. I flew back and forth between Florida and Utah a number of times until Christmas, when I resigned because I had been accepted by BYUH. After spending Christmas with my family, and visiting relatives in Texas, I flew to Honolulu to attend school at BYUH once again. I was delighted to meet many old friends who I knew before my mission and also a few friends who I had met on my mission.
I am now at another turning point in my life, and I am both eager and excited to embark.

    Updated 1/4/2009

There have been a number of happenings in my life recently. First and foremost was my engagement to the love of my life, Sharon Ting Ee Wen. We met at BYU Hawaii and were engaged in May, 2008. I worked over the summer and then went to Malaysia to stay with Sharon until we get her Visa. We are waiting now in Malaysia for it to be approved so that we can return to the USA and get married in the Temple.

I also started an online Web Design business, WildKatana Design. It has been keeping me busy and paying the bills, so I am happy with it. I work from home on my laptop.
