    • I'm a pregger. January 30, 2012
Well, the stick showed it, and the ob/gyn confirmed it. So I guess I am officially pregnant now! The baby is in its week 7 and is the size of a blueberry. This week the baby is developing arms and legs. It's mind-boggling a 'thing' the size of a blueberry has hands and feet!Wow, it sounds so surreal! When I took the pregnancy test, I was expec […]

    • Happy Chinese New Year! January 23, 2012
Yay! The first day of Chinese New Year. This is the year of the dragon, which is probably the most auspicious year for the Chinese, since we Chinese are the descendants of the dragon.Every year during this time I miss my family terribly. It's supposed to be a time for family gathering and I miss out on that every year ever since I moved to the U.S. Sigh […]

2011 was a year of fun, learning, and growth. In retrospect, it was a wonderful year for us.January: My sister came to visit and slept on our couch for about a month! We had so much fun while she was here. She celebrated her 24th birthday here too. My second semester in grad school started and this semester I got to co-teach a class with my mentor. It was th […]

Happy Thanksgiving! I had a great time in Las Vegas with my cousins and their families. Going to the Beach

    Monday, April 7th, 2008

One of my favorite past-times here in Hawai’i is going to the beach. I just love to go where the sand meets the surf and enjoy the warmth of the sun mixed with the cool of the Pacific Ocean. I really love nature, and this satisfies my appetite for a little while. The beaches here in Hawai’i are soooooo nice. The water is also much warmer here than on the East or West Coast of the Mainland USA.

    The Winter Ball

    Friday, April 4th, 2008

I went to the Winter Ball with Sharon, my darling~. We rode on the school bus down to the Port, where we boarded the Star of Honolulu, a small cruise ship. Doreen also came with us, although we got separated at the Ball and didn’t end up meeting until we got off the ship. The Ball was, well, a ball. We danced, ate, gazed at Honolulu and Waikiki from the decks, gazed at the stars while laying on the chairs, took pictures, ate, took more pictures, looked for Doreen, talked with many people, and generally had fun. It was a really fun experience. On the way back we were content to just hold each other in our arms.

    Sharon

    Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

This post is about my favorite person in Hawai’i, who also happens to be my girlfriend: Ting Ee Wen Sharon. I know what you’re probably thinking: “How did a guy like me end up with a girl like her?” Now, let me tell you, I’ve always been a very lucky person all of my life, but even this is just too lucky even for me. So I chalk it up to fate. I love her and for some reason beyond what I can understand, she loves me. And I am happy that it worked out that way. I first met Sharon 3(+) years ago when I was a new student here at BYU-Hawai’i (this was before my mission). She was also a new student, and we met in an orientation meeting for new employees of the Polynesian Cultural Center. I remember thinking to myself, “Wow, she is pretty! I wonder what her name is.” We actually talked briefly and I told her my name and asked her hers (then promptly forgot it! hey, I was talking to a gorgeous girl, of course I can’t remember my own name, let alone hers). I saw her after that a couple times in the Cafeteria. I always smiled at her and she always smiled back. But that is as far as it went (I was very shy back then). Then one day while I was sitting at home in my dorm room on my computer (as usual), I suddenly got a pop up from MSN messenger informing me that someone called s_fenella@hotmail.com had added me to his/her friends list, and did I want to add her to mine and let her chat with me. Curious, I accepted and was surprised to find that it was Sharon! The first thing I thought was, “How did she get my msn email?! Is this girl a stalker?!” Haha. I asked her and she said that she found it online on the school website student directory. This was lucky, because I don’t actually use my hotmail address for real emails, (I have my gmail account) so I gave it to the school in hopes that I wouldn’t have to read any of their emails they would send me. But luckily, this was the very address she found. So we started chatting. I remember cracking up when she wrote ‘wat?’ instead of what? Haha. Now I realize that it is how she always types, and indeed how many asians type. Asians always want to save as much space as they can but cutting out letters and taking shortcuts. This is probably because of their SMS culture. Haha. Anyways, this post is getting long so I am going to make it in installments. I will finish it later. This is installment 1.

    Shopping with Sharon

    Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

One of Sharon’s passions is that she loves to shop. She also is obsessed with bags, but that is another story altogether. One of her favorite places to shop is in Ala Moana, Honolulu. We have gone shopping there together a number of times. Often times I end up just following her around like a lost puppy while she runs from store to store, pointing out all the name brands and gazing into every display window. She is thrilled to see all the latest fashions and displays, while I am happy just being with her, so we always have a lot of fun. I am amazed at her stamina and endurance. My feet always kill me after these day long patrols, but she seems tireless. Recently, we went shopping for clothes for the Winter Ball. I helped her pick out dresses, although I fear I wasn’t very helpful, because I told her she looked gorgeous in almost any dress she tried on (which may sound cheesy, but I assure you it was true). The hard part was trying to find one that 1) fit and 2) was in standards. Sharon is such a small size and the dress code is so strict that I would guess that more than 95% of the dresses in the store were out of the question. In the end, she found a gorgeous blue dress which she purchased. I on the other hand bought some nice shirts from Hollister. On another day, I went to Macy’s with Sharon and bought two more dress shirts and some dress pants. These were for the ball. I have never spent so much money on clothes at one time in my life. Haha.
